Lethally blonde: Mena Suvari gets scary on set to portray stalker obsessed with her former lover

Taking a key role in a Lifetime movie has been a right of passage for many a big name star.
Rob Lowe, Naomi Watts, Kristen Dunst and Jennifer Love Hewitt have all taken starring roles and lest you forget, the channel brought LeAnn Rimes and husband Eddie Cibrian together in a real-life drama that really should be retold by the channel at some point.
Now American Beauty alum Mena Suvari, 33, is taking her turn and being savvy, she's opted to play a baddie... a stalker to be precise.

Mena and Henry Simmons have joined the cast of Lifetime’s two-hour original movie Stalkers (formerly Whisper Of Fear), starring Drea De Mateo and Jodi Lyn O’Keefe.
It's inspired by a true story from the book Whisper Of Fear: The True Story Of The Prosecutor Who Stalks The Stalkers by Rhonda Saunders, a criminal prosecutor who wrote the law on stalking in California.
Stalkers follows Diane Harper - de Matteo - a passionate cop with a troubled past, and ambitious Da - O’Keefe - who team up to bring a stalker (Suvari), obsessed with her former lover, to justice.
Simmons plays Harper’s partner Cliff.

It seems that with her girlish past behind her, Suvari is seeking to mix things up a bit by developing an edgier appeal both on and off the screen.
The twice-divorced blonde is currently dating tattoo artist Salvador Sanchez.
And it would appear having a new man in her life has given Mena a new-found positivity.
Writing on her Twitter page, she said: 'Love your life and live it well... commit to discovering your dreams and making them come true.'

The star's new relationship comes following the breakdown of her second marriage to her now ex-husband, Simone Sestito.
The former couple split last November after less than two years of marriage.
Divorce proceedings were said to have become tense amid reports Sestito asked for $17,000 a month from the actress, alleging she earns $750,000 a year.
However, her representative said the pair eventually mediated their issues and resolved the situation.
